Olympic gold medallist and three-time European Champion Owain Doull will partner Mark Cavendish at Phynova Six Day London 2019.
Doull won gold in the team pursuit at the 2016 Rio Olympics, while competing alongside Bradley Wiggins, Ed Clancy and Steven Burke, and setting a new world record in the process.
Owain, who is the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win Olympic gold, will be making his Six Day Series debut, having just competed at Vuelta a España 2019.
Doull said: “I can’t wait to race alongside Mark at Phynova Six Day London, he’s a British cycling legend and I’m sure we’ll perform well together. I’ve heard great things about Six Day and will be determined to bring it home for Wales under the lights.”
Also joining the men’s field for Phynova Six Day London 2019 is Australian Caleb Ewan, fresh from winning three stages at this year’s Tour de France, including the prestigious Champs-Elysees stage. The 25-year-old sprinter, who also has three Giro d’Italia and one Vuelta a España stage wins under his belt, will also make his Six Day debut.
Ewan added: “Six Day has a great reputation around the world, including in Australia, so I’m pumped to be racing in London this year.
“The calibre of riders is very high, with icons like Cavendish and Viviani racing in the capital. This year has gone well for me so far, so I hope that I can add to the Australian sporting honours won in England by taking the crown.”
