Katie Archibald regained her title at Phynova Six Day London, combining with fellow Scot Neah Evans to claim the Elite Women’s crown.

The British duo, fresh off the back of success in the Team Pursuit at the European Championships, stormed to the crown with 257 points and a dominant display.

Champion at Phynova Six Day London in 2016 and 2017, Archibald won the overall title last season and her new pairing with Evans came off in golden fashion.

“The first time I rode Six Day London was in 2016 and we were head-to-head for the win and ended up on-two,” Archibald said.

“It’s interesting coming back as teammates and having that same sense of competition to it but combining the two and working together.

“It’s a big race and one you want to hit hard because it’s in your back garden and at one of the Britain’s finest tracks so I think all the Brits are pretty proud.”

Competing in front of a home crowd at the Lee Valley Velodrome and feeling their backing was a special experience for Evans, victorious at the inaugural Six Day Hong Kong.

“It’s been a lot of fun, it’s been fantastic support every night and we’ve had a great time,” Evans explained.

“We love it. For us it’s not the same pressure as a World Cup but there’s still pressure because whenever you get on a start line you want to do well.

“Especially when there’s such a big crowd, you want to put on a performance and give them something to cheer about.”

It was an all-British podium with Elinor Barker and Laura Kenny combining to finish second while Emily Nelson and Manon Lloyd completed the top three.

Barker said: “I’ve really enjoyed it, this is my second year over three years and it’s just got bigger and bigger.

“The crowd has got more into it and more knowledgeable and the atmosphere grows and grows every year and now it’s a party on a Sunday night.”

Six Day London returns to the Lee Valley VeloPark in 2020 between 20-25 October. Tickets are on sale now at www.ticketmaster.co.uk/sixdaylondon
